Yes it does. Prosper, what error message do you get? You should also
post relevant sections from the error log.

Problem with SQL on same server as web server
I am making a pressroom application, which will serve up limited numbers of news articles on our site. I am using a brand new development server which was just installed. It has both the web server and the SQL server running on the same box. For some reason, none of my ASP scripts can connect to the SQL server on that box, but I can connect to databases on other boxes just fine. Is this a problem in the SQL or the IIS confiruration?
Thanks,
AndrewIt shouldn't matter if its on the same box. Are you trying to use local references or something? Can you post your connection string?

Problem with SetReportDataSources method
Hi,
Thanks in Advacne,
I'm using Reporting Service 2000 Web Service SetReportDataSources method to associate Datasource with Report. But I'm getting error.
"The data source 'DS_Code_002' cannot be found in this report. --> The data source 'DS_Code_002' cannot be found in this report. "
I searched lot but i didn't get solution .Some posts telling like "this is a bug in RSWS". Please help me to resolve the issue.
Code:
DataSourceReference reference = new DataSourceReference();
reference.Reference = txtDSPath.Text;
DataSource[] dataSources = new DataSource[1];
DataSource ds = new DataSource();
ds.Item = (DataSourceDefinitionOrReference) reference;
ds.Name = "Dsname";
dataSources[0] = ds;
rs.SetReportDataSources(txtReportPath.Text, dataSources);
Thanks again,
Krishna kumar.M
Hi,
After the long try myself found the answer.
if datasource name is same like the hardcoded data source name in .rdl file it is working fine
So I chnage to code as follows now it is working fine. Otherwise you have to change the name in .rdl file manually.
Code
DataSourceReference dRef= new ReportingService.ReportingServiceWS.DataSourceReference( );
dRef.Reference = txtDSPath.Text;
DataSource []ds = rs.GetReportDataSources(txtReportPath.Text);
DataSource d = new ReportingService.ReportingServiceWS.DataSource();
d.Item = (RS.DataSourceDefinitionOrReference)dRef;
d.Name= ds[0].Name; // Get the new name store it in new object
ds[0] = d;
rs.SetReportDataSources(txtReportPath.Text,ds);

problem with SELECT statement and WHERE
i am using visual web developer 2005 and SQL server 2005 with VB as the code behind
i am using the following code to retrieve data from the database and display in textboxes and it works fine
Dim tblData As New Data.DataTable()
Dim conn As New Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection("Data
Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|\Database.mdf;IntegratedSecurity=True;User Instance=True")
Dim Command As New Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand("SELECT * FROM Table1 ", conn)
Dim da As New Data.SqlClient.SqlDataAdapter(Command)
da.Fill(tblData)
conn.Close()
TextBox4.Text = tblData.Rows(0).Item("name").ToString()
TextBox5.Text = tblData.Rows(0).Item("age").ToString()
TextBox6.Text = tblData.Rows(0).Item("email").ToString()
now i want to display data in the text boxes that match certain criteria.i modified the code like this but it did not work
Dim tblData As New Data.DataTable()
Dim conn As New Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection("Data
Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|\Database.mdf;IntegratedSecurity=True;UserInstance=True")
Dim Command As New Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand("SELECT * FROM Table1 WHERE name=peter", conn)
Dim da As New Data.SqlClient.SqlDataAdapter(Command)
da.Fill(tblData)
conn.Close()
TextBox4.Text = tblData.Rows(0).Item("name").ToString()
TextBox5.Text = tblData.Rows(0).Item("age").ToString()
TextBox6.Text = tblData.Rows(0).Item("email").ToString()
it gave the result as Invalid column name 'peter'.
but if i give as SELECT * FROM Table1 WHERE id=1result is displayed correctly
but id is the primary key whereas name is not a primary key.
please help me how to display the values corresponding to the name field
i would think your "Select * from table1 where name = peter"
should be
"Select * From Table1 where name = 'peter'"
notice the single quotes on around peter as your querying a char field
HTH,
AjaxButter
Try putting single quotes around peter like this 'peter'. The SQLAdapter is interrepting the string peter as a column name and not a value. The reason it works with the id is because id is most likely a numeric type value (IE: int or decimal, etc.) so single quotes are not needed.
Dapanther
|||AjaxButter,
Beat again by my slow typing LOL
Dapanther
|||if peter is just a substring and i want all the rows containing peter as a substring in name field what will i do
please help me
|||If you need peter as a substring then there are the follwoing possiblities.
1. the name is "xyz peter"
For this the querry would be Select * From table1 where name like '%peter'
2. the name is "Peter xyz"
Here the querry would be like this Select * From table1 where name like 'Peter %'
3. The name could be "abc Peter xyz"
The querry would be as follows: Select * From table1 where name like '%peter%'
It all depends upon what you require. The % is a wild string search.
Please mark this as answer if the post help you.

Problem with ReportViewer Control
I have an ASP.NET web site with form authentication.
When I use a ReportViewer control in a page (with a masterPage) and my report (ServerReport and Remote processingmode) has DateTime parameters I can't see that calendar gif in order to select a date. Same thing with a DropDownList bound to a dataset for another paramater (I can't see that arrow from the right side of DropDownList so I can't dropdown it).
When I want to see the report with a browser direct from my Reports site it works fine. Only in reportviewer has this simptoms.
IE has some errors in script
1. 'RSClientController' is undefined
2. 'ClientControllerctl00_contentPanel_ReportViewer1' is null or not an object.
3. 'DropDownParamClass' is undefined.
I found other posts with the same simptoms:

Problem with report DataSource
I am deploying reports via the web service. I create a folder, then create
a data source. Once I create a report, I make a reference to the data source
created and change the reports invalid data source to the reference.
When I did this with a data source with credentials stored on the report
server, it worked with no problems. When I changed this to prompt for
crendentials, accessing the report via web services cannot find the data
source associated with the report (the one defined in the rdl does not exist
in the folder fyi). Is this because a reference has no name in the database?
It does work via the Report Manager.
Here are some code snippets:
this.ReportService.CreateReport(reportType.ToString(), "/" + dbName, true,
definition, null);
//change its datasource to the new one
DataSourceReference reference = new DataSourceReference();
reference.Reference = "/" + dbName + "/" + dbName;
DataSource[] dataSources = this.ReportService.GetReportDataSources("/" +
dbName + "/" + reportType.ToString() );
for(int i=0;i<dataSources.Length;i++)
{
if(dataSources[i].Item is InvalidDataSourceReference)
{
dataSources[i].Item = reference;
}
}
this.ReportService.SetReportDataSources("/" + dbName + "/" +
reportType.ToString() ,dataSources);
and for credentials:
DataSourceCredentials d = new DataSourceCredentials();
d.DataSourceName = dbName;
d.UserName = userName;
d.Password = password;
this.mDataSourceCredentials = new DataSourceCredentials[]{d};
any help would be greatly appreciated.It seems recently that my posts never get replied to - Im sure others must
share the same frustration. The solution I came up with was to read the .rdl
file in as xml, search for all data source nodes and replace the old name
(attribute) with the new name. I also created the data source as a data
source, not as a reference.

Problem with referencing System.Data.SqlServerCE.dll
Hello
I have referrenced System.Data.SqlServerCE.dll to my web project in order to create a .sdf file. I haven't wrote any code,just referenced it. When I build the project I get this error:
Error 2 'System.Data.SqlServerCe, Version=9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' cannot be loaded.
It sounds like you dont have the client dlls installed.
If you already installed the SDK you need to install it from C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v3.1\SDK\bin\Desktop
if you dont have the SDK, I suggest you to install it, another option would be to download directly another redist.
|||I have had problems too, related to incorrect referencing. There is a version in the public assemblies folder which causes this error.
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PublicAssemblies\System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll
This specific file/version is needed by the data designer in visual studio so dont delete it, just change any references in your projects, for System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll, to point to the correct file.
Usually
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v3.1\System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll
OR
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v3.5\System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll

Problem with passing report parameters using POST request.
Hi
We are accessing reports through our web application. Our front end is implemented using tapestry
Our report is using four parameters. The report url is like
http://<servername>/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?/<Report_Proj_Name>/<ReportName>
We are using POST requests with our report parameters defined as hidden variables.
If we use GET request, with parameters as query string then we are able to view our reports.
When I tried to access the report through web application, it gives out an error message as:
Reporting Services Error
---
An attempt was made to set a report parameter 'formids' that is not
defined in this report. (rsUnknownReportParameter) Get Online Help
---
For POST request, we get the above mentioned error. When I saw the view source I could see that tapestry
internally sets its own hidden variable for persisting its state in session.
formids is one of the hidden variable set by it.
How should I specify in the report that formids is not one of the report parameter.
There may be other hidden variables other than formids too that may get generated at runtime.
What setting should I do at the report end or at the application end?
Please help me find a solution for this problem.
Thanks!
I would suggest using a separate <form> tag in the application and populating this with just the parameters expected by the report. So I would make the change at the application level.|||Thanks for your response! but I tried doing that still its not working.
Tapestry at runtime generates those hidden variables.
