problem with srever 2005 and Oracle

I am creating report model witch have connection to Oracle database. I was
created the connection and data source view, but then I want to create
Report model with wizard I am geting the error: ORA-02179: valid options:
ISOLATION LEVEL {SERIAZABLE | READ COMMITTED}.
how to change isolation level to valid oracle connection isolation level.It is my understanding that the model part of RS in 2005 is not yet
compatible with Oracle. I am tied to find where I read that on technet
but I can't. Maybe someone else can elaborate.
Thanks!|||Work-around for Report Builder:
1. Create linked server connection to Oracle database using the
OraOLEDB.Oracle provider(more up-to-date than Microsoft's).
2. Create a Data Source using the native SQL provider to the SQL Server
where you created in step 1.
3. Create a data source view; do not select objects.
4. Right-click in the DSV designer pane and create a New Named Query. Build
your query against the linked server (i.e. use 4-part names: select * from
linkedservername..schema.object). Repeat step 4 for each object you wish to
add to your model.
5. Add logical keys where applicable.
6. Build your model.
7. Deploy & build reports using Report Builder :-)

problem with sql string

I am trying to return with count 0

I know that's not possible but how can I see them

This is a report that will tell me when there are no items showing on the partyguide page

selectcount(*)as reltheme, display_namefrom bb_guide_party

leftjoin(select bb_guide_party_seqfrom bb_guide_party_dept a, binbox_dept bwhere a.dept_id= b.dept_idand b.active_Flag= 1) dd

on bb_guide_party.bb_guide_party_seq= dd.bb_guide_party_seq

and bb_guide_party.active_flag=1

groupby display_name

havingcount(display_name)<1

Maybe you can something like this:

select * from (

selectcount(*)as reltheme, display_namefrom bb_guide_party

leftjoin(select bb_guide_party_seqfrom bb_guide_party_dept a, binbox_dept bwhere a.dept_id= b.dept_idand b.active_Flag= 1) dd

on bb_guide_party.bb_guide_party_seq= dd.bb_guide_party_seq

and bb_guide_party.active_flag=1

groupby display_name

) where reltheme = 0

Hope it helps

|||

the problem is that the count is always equal or greater then 1 because if a row shows up it is 1 count.

I need to check when it doesn't have a row.

|||

This is a total stab in the dark, since i'm not familiar with your data (which is the one, which is the many), but...

select a.bb_guide_party_seq, count(a.bb_guide_party_seq)
from bb_guide_party_dept a
inner join binbox_dept b
on a.dept_id = b.dept_id
left outer join bb_guide_party c
on c.bb_guide_party_seq = a.bb_guide_party_seq
where b.active_Flag = 1
and c.bb_guide_party_seq is null
group by a.bb_guide_party_seq

|||

selectdistinct dept_name

from bb_guide_party_dept a, binbox_dept bwhere a.dept_id= b.dept_id

and b.active_Flag= 1

selectdistinct dept_name

from bb_guide_party_dept a, binbox_dept bwhere a.dept_id= b.dept_id

I need to return what doesn't show up in the first select statement

|||

selectdistinct dept_name

from bb_guide_party_dept d, binbox_dept ewhere d.dept_id= e.dept_id

and e.active_Flag= 1

union

selectdistinct dept_name

from bb_guide_party_dept a, binbox_dept bwhere a.dept_id= b.dept_id

and e.dept_namenot the sameas b.dept_name

Problem with SP installation (report server)

Hi all
I face a weird problem with the installation of SP1/SP2. The scenario
is that the report designer gets updated with the SPs that i apply. But
the problem is with the report server. The installation is successful
but the version number in my report server is still 8.00.743.00 even
after applying the SPs.
I have windows 2003 server with latest SP and SQL server (i'm using
MSDE) with latest SP. I do have local admin rights in my machine.
Am i missing something '
Please suggest some solutions.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Prathima.CYes, I don't see how Reports are working for you at all since MSDE is not
supported. It should never have installed in the first place with it. MSDE
is not supported and Personal Edition is not supported.

Problem with sorting in exported Excel document

Hello. I am using Reporting Services 2000 and Microsoft Excel 2003 running on
Windows XP Professional. I have a report that contains sales information that
I am exporting to Excel. The first two lines of the report contain title
information. They span all columns of the report. For example, the first line
(let's call it Food Sales Information) spans 15 columns. After the first two
lines of title information, there is a line containing the names of the
columns. After that, I have a lot of lines containing the sales data. I
export this to Excel. When I click in one of the numeric columns and click
the "A->Z" (sort ascending) button, I get the following error:
"This operation requires the merged cells to be identically sized."
Clciking Show Help gives me the following detail:
"This error only appears if you attempted to sort a range of previously
merged cells, but not all cells in the sort range were merged or are not of
the same size.
To avoid this behavior, unmerge all the merged cells in the range, or merge
all the cells in the range to be the same as the largest merged cell
grouping."
I believe this error to be caused the the two header rows. When I delete the
two header rows from the exported Excel document, I do not get the error.
Is there any way around this problem? Can I get the data to sort in Excel
without removing the header? Thanks in advance for the help.For those of you with this problem in the future who find this post
through google, Teo pointed me to a blog with this very issue
addressed. The bottom line is exporting to Excel from RS2000 leaves a
lot to be desired. Here is the blog with a work-around for this
problem:

Problem with size of text of title of column.

Hello :

In a title of a column of a table, I put a too long text, with sorting, but when I spread (display) the report has a problem on text of the title of the column there.

The probleme settles (arises) when I activate the sorting to post (show) the image of sorting.

How to fit the size of the cell to the text?

Thenk's.

Problem with SetReportDataSources method

Hi,

Thanks in Advacne,

I'm using Reporting Service 2000 Web Service SetReportDataSources method to associate Datasource with Report. But I'm getting error.

"The data source 'DS_Code_002' cannot be found in this report. --> The data source 'DS_Code_002' cannot be found in this report. "

I searched lot but i didn't get solution .Some posts telling like "this is a bug in RSWS". Please help me to resolve the issue.

Code:

DataSourceReference reference = new DataSourceReference();

reference.Reference = txtDSPath.Text;

DataSource[] dataSources = new DataSource[1];

DataSource ds = new DataSource();

ds.Item = (DataSourceDefinitionOrReference) reference;

ds.Name = "Dsname";

dataSources[0] = ds;

rs.SetReportDataSources(txtReportPath.Text, dataSources);

Thanks again,

Krishna kumar.M

Hi,

After the long try myself found the answer.

if datasource name is same like the hardcoded data source name in .rdl file it is working fine

So I chnage to code as follows now it is working fine. Otherwise you have to change the name in .rdl file manually.

Code

DataSourceReference dRef= new ReportingService.ReportingServiceWS.DataSourceReference( );

dRef.Reference = txtDSPath.Text;

DataSource []ds = rs.GetReportDataSources(txtReportPath.Text);

DataSource d = new ReportingService.ReportingServiceWS.DataSource();

d.Item = (RS.DataSourceDefinitionOrReference)dRef;

d.Name= ds[0].Name; // Get the new name store it in new object

ds[0] = d;

rs.SetReportDataSources(txtReportPath.Text,ds);

problem with Selection criteria

Using SS2000 SP4, RS2000, VS2003
I'm trying to put the start date and end date in the report header. I have a
report title in the header now and it prints ok. As soon as I add a text box
and the parameter for the start date, nothing in the report header prints but
the body of the report prints. This is what is in the header
"=FORMAT(Parameters!StartDate.Value, "MMMM d, yyyy")". I also have some
parameters in the report footer and they aren't printing either. I copied
them from another report.
Thanks,
--
Dan D.I can't explain it but all of a sudden it started working in both the header
and the footer.

Problem with select from 2000 to 2005

I have a query which was generated by a user using a report writter, so I have no control over what the user selected or how the query was generated.

The following query runs perfectly under SQL 2000 SP 4 32 bit and has for a long time. We are testing on a SQL 2005 SP1 (2153 Build) 64 bit with the exact same data.

The following query on SQL 2000 runs in 3 seconds, on SQL 2005 ran for 42 MINUTES before we cancelled it.

SELECT
CustomerID = TABLEB.CustomerID,
CustomerName = TABLEA.Group_Name_1_A,
CustomerContact = TABLEA.Group_Name_2_A
FROM
TABLEA
RIGHT OUTER JOIN TABLEB ON (TABLEB.CustomerID=TABLEA.CustomerID)
RIGHT OUTER JOIN TABLEC ON (TABLEC.CustomerID=TABLEB.CustomerID)
WHERE
TABLEB.CustomerID
IN (.. List of 38 CustomerIDs...)

Note: TABLEA and TABLEB are actually views into TABLEC. I don't know if that is relavant or not yet.

This appears to be this problem: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318530 which existed in 2000 and was fixed with SP3. Can anyone confirm if this problem exists in 2005?

In diagnosing the problem, several things cause the query to work properly under 2005 and return in 3 seconds: Changing the WHERE TABLEB to WHERE TABLEA. Removing the RIGHT OUTER TABLEB, which is technically unneeded. The most interesting is shortening the WHERE IN clause to only 11 items, which is not possible for the report. Removing the PK from TABLEC OR making the PK index non-clustered.

The est execution plans between 2000 and 2005 is like comparing "Apples to Automobiles". That both start with "A" and that is about the only similarity.

Any ideas?The KB article fix is there in SQL Server 2005. This is an unrelated problem. Can you please file a bug at http://connect.microsoft.com/sqlserver? Please provide a repro script that demonstrates the problem. You could use plan guides in SQL Server 2005 to force the plan to use only hash joins for example. I can't say for sure if that will help without looking at the plans between the two versions. But using plan guides is one way to avoid changing the application assuming that this problem can be solved by just changing the join type. Any other rewrite will be harder to achieve without changing the query text itself.|||I will try to recreate it using the AdventureWorks database and submit it as a bug.

Thank you|||When I try to submit feedback, it just loops when press "Submit" and apparently does nothing.

I was able to reproduce the problem on AdventureWorks using ths following script.

is not valid for an aggregate function. The scope parameter must be set to a
string constant that is equal to either the name of a containing group, the
name of a containing data region, or the name of a data set.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
TessaScope names have to be string constants.
I'm not sure why you need dynamic scopes, but you can simulate them.
Assuming you have a function that returns a number between 1 and N, use an
expression similar to this:
=Choose( Code.DetermineScope(), Sum(Fields!F1.Value), Sum(Fields!F1.Value,
"Group1"), Sum(Fields!F1.Value, "Group2"), ......, Sum(Fields!F1.Value,
"DataRegionName"), Sum(Fields!F1.Value, "DataSetName") )
Notes:
* you can only use scope names of containing groups, and data regions (e.g.
table, list, matrix)
* for huge reports (i.e. with many data rows in the dataset) this approach
of simulating dynamic scopes will degrade performance
* documentation on the Choose function is available at:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/vblr7/html/vafctchoose.asp

Problem with Reusing ReportViewer Control

I am resusing the Report Viewer Control depending on a selection the user
makes.
I load the report definition as follows:
rvFBReport.LocalReport.LoadReportDefinition(sr)
where sr is a streamreader loading the rdl file.
Then I pass in the datasource via:
rvFBReport.LocalReport.DataSources.Add(rds)
where rds is a reportdatasource.
It works great until I try loading a different report using the same
reportviewer.
I have also tried using rvFleetInvoices.LocalReport.DataSources.Clear()
but to no effect. What happens is the report comes up but contains no data
even though there is. It is almost as if the report is not refreshing the
data when switching between different RDL's
Any help/thoughts would be appreciated.Here is another symptom that may narrow it down. If the other reports that I
select has fields with the same name then those fields show up. But any
fields that were not in the first loaded report do not show up. It is almost
as if the datasource is not refreshing the field list.

change. i.e.,
reportviewer1.reset

Problem with repot layout

Hi,
I'm in the process of designing a report and am having a few problems
with the layout. What I need is a header on all pages but footer on
only the first page. I managed to accomplish this by hiding all the
textboxes on the footer if the current page global variable <> 1. The
problem is that the footer still takes up space on the following
pages. I tried placing all the information in the body of the report
but there is no way to know what page I am currently on.
I just can't seem to see a way of having footer on the first page only
and thereafter only the header and detail.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

The only thing I can think of at the moment is to encapsulate all the
textbox controls in a rectangle in the footer, that might conserve a
little space. Sorry that I could not be of greater assistance.

Thanks for you response, but unfortunately I already tried that. The
problem is that the footer takes up about half the page which is why
it is only required on the first page. The document conforms to a
certain legal requirement required by my company.
Thanks again.

Problem with ReportViewer Control

I have an ASP.NET web site with form authentication.

When I use a ReportViewer control in a page (with a masterPage) and my report (ServerReport and Remote processingmode) has DateTime parameters I can't see that calendar gif in order to select a date. Same thing with a DropDownList bound to a dataset for another paramater (I can't see that arrow from the right side of DropDownList so I can't dropdown it).

When I want to see the report with a browser direct from my Reports site it works fine. Only in reportviewer has this simptoms.

IE has some errors in script

1. 'RSClientController' is undefined

2. 'ClientControllerctl00_contentPanel_ReportViewer1' is null or not an object.

3. 'DropDownParamClass' is undefined.

I found other posts with the same simptoms:

but the solution found there doesn't apply to me.

Any suggestions ?

I have the same problem regarding Reporting Service. Is this problem has been solved ? Could you please advice me how to solve the problem?

How do I resize the columns in reportviewer?

Problem with reportviewer

Hi!

I have a problem with a reportviewer using localreport. If I debug my website under VS I can see the report in the reportviewer, but if I run the website in a browser, I cannot. If I export the report I can see the data, but I can't in the reportviewer component.

Do you know the meanng of this and how to solve this?

Thank you

Is the site over ssl? Sometimes this can mess up the viewer. Is the viewer in an html table? If so, take it out. Frames might cause this too. Try taking it out of any frames and the such. Cheers~
