Problem with SQLXML BulkLoad from .NET Application

I am using BulkLoad from .NET application as follows

SQLXMLBULKLOADLib.SQLXMLBulkLoad4Class obj = new SQLXMLBULKLOADLib.SQLXMLBulkLoad4Class();

obj.ConnectionString = "Provider=SQLOLEDB;Server=serverName;Database=dbName;Integrated Security=SSPI";

obj.ErrorLogFile = Application.StartupPath + @."\Error.log";

obj.IgnoreDuplicateKeys = true;

try

{

obj.Execute(Application.StartupPath + @."\Schema1.xsd", Application.StartupPath + @."\Data1.xml");

obj.Execute(Application.StartupPath + @."\Schema2.xsd", Application.StartupPath + @."\Data2.xml");

}

catch (Exception ex)

{

throw ex;

}

I get following error when I run my application:

InvalidCastException was unhandled by user code.

Unable to cast COM object of type 'SQLXMLBULKLOADLib.SQLXMLBulkLoad4Class' to interface type 'SQLXMLBULKLOADLib.ISQLXMLBulkLoad4'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{88465BA7-AEEE-49A1-9499-4416287A0160}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)).

When I run the same code in a Console application it works alright. In my application the code is executed on a Background thread, could that be cause of exception? Please help.

Thanks

From SQL Server Books Online :

Using SQLXML Bulk Load in the .NET Environment

The reference to the Bulk Load component (xblkld4.dll) can also be added using the tlbimp.exe tool, which is available as part of .NET framework. This tool creates a managed wrapper for the native DLL (xblkld4.dll), which can then be used in any .NET project. For example:

c:\>tlbimp xblkld4.dll

This creates the managed wrapper DLL (SQLXMLBULKLOADLib.dll) that you can use in the .NET Framework project. In the .NET Framework, you add project reference to the newly created DLL.

This will solve your issue.

I think you should use

[STAThread]

staticvoid Main(string[] args)

{

//your code

}

|||I am having the same problem, however, running tlbimp does not fix it. I have to run tlbimp on the full path to the DLL because it can't find it unless I specify it. I get the same error. Please help!

Problem with SqlDataSource.Insert() using MasterPage

Hi,

because I have had problems with transporting of data from TextBoxes to SQL database in my application using SqlDataSource.Insert(), I tried to analyze it using Microsoft's sample code located here:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.ui.webcontrols.sqldatasource.insert.aspx

Everything worked well untill I have used masterpage. Since this moment my database table started receive only NULL values - the same problem, which I have in my application. Despite all data values were correct before calling SqlDataSource.Insert() method. Is it some bug or something else (my bugSmile) and how can I resolve it? I'd like to use all advantages of masterpages and datasources together.

Here are non-working codes of spoken sample:

Thanks for any idea

I reproduced your issue, not sure what's causing the problem. However we can use asp:ControlParameter in this case:

<asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource1" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:LocalSqlServer %>"

SelectCommand="SELECT id,name FROM test_MasterSqlDataSource" InsertCommand="insert into test_MasterSqlDataSource select @.id,@.name">

<InsertParameters>
<asp:ControlParameter ControlID="NazevBox" PropertyName="Text" Name="id" />

<asp:ControlParameter Name="name" PropertyName="Text" ControlID="CodeBox" />

</InsertParameters>

</asp:SqlDataSource>

I've tested and found the values can be inserted into database properly.

Problem with SqlCeRemoteDataAccess.Pull() in Pocket PC 2003 application

hi
I am trying to make a Pocket PC 2003 application which will pull data from a SQL Server 2005 database and store in Mobile database. and Push the table from mobile databse to SQL server 2005 database

I also have a desktop application up and running with SQL server database in which I can enter records to the SQL server 2005 database

I get error when I trigger SqlCeRemoteDataAccess.Pull() method, which says "sql mobile encountered problems when opening the database", (its native error 28559)

when user access the database as anoymous they'll log in as my account
I am working on Windows Vista and have IIS and SQL Server 2005 running on the same machine same machine alongside Visual Studio SP1 for vista
I've also got Windows Mobile Device Centre installed with Virtual PC 2007 Installer which means when I cradle the emulator the Windows Mobile Device Centre detects and connects it and I can internet on that.
but I can't access http://IDVISTA/SQLCE/sqlcesa30.dll (HostURL in the code) in Pocket PC 2003 emulator's Internet explorer (not sure if it counts)

below is my code

Code Snippet

private String LocalConString = "Data Source=Program Files\\PDADairy\\Database\\diary.sdf;Persist Security Info=False;";

private String RemoteConString = "Data Source=IDVISTA;Initial Catalog=Dairy;Integrated Security=SSPI;";

private String HostURL = "http://IDVISTA/SQLCE/sqlcesa30.dll";

public void Pull()
{

// Create a remote data access object

SqlCeRemoteDataAccess RDA = new SqlCeRemoteDataAccess(HostURL, "", "", LocalConString);

try
{
RDA.Pull("Appointments", "SELECT * FROM Appointments ", RemoteConString, RdaTrackOption.TrackingOff, "ErrorPullingAppointments");
}
catch (SqlCeException sqle)
{
for (int i = 0; i < sqle.Errors.Count; i++)
MessageBox.Show(sqle.Errors[i].NativeError.ToString() + "\n" +
sqle.Errors[i].Source);
}
finally
{
RDA.Dispose();

}

Any help will be much appreciated

It is vital that you can access the SQL CE agent URL from IE on your device. Try using the IP address of your PC instead of host name. Also, change your connection string to:

"Data Source=\\Program Files\\PDADairy\\Database\\diary.sdf;Persist Security Info=False;";

Try connecting with SQL security instead of integrated security, to see if this is the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply

I have now managed to access SQL CE agent URL from emulator's IE. (it was my windows firewall blocking incoming requests)

but the problem is still the same I still get the same error even after changing the connection string as you suggested

OK i gotta admit that I am fairly new to this whole thing and dont really know how to connect with sql security (could you specify a bit for me please)

i m reading the blog now, see if there is anything I am missing still out

Problem with SqlCacheDependency

I've set up a SqlCacheDependency in my Asp.Net application, but the dependency invalidates the cache immediately every time the page is hit.

I think the problem may be with my SQL Query, but it seems to me to meet the requirements on the Special Considerations When Using Query Notifications page on MSDN. Could someone take a look at this query and tell me if I've done something wrong? Thank you.

Here's my query:

Problem with SQLBindParameter

I am developing an application, using ODBC, that needs to call a stored procedure in an SQL Server DBMS that has a mix of INPUT and INPUT_OUTPUT parameters. I have the code so that there aren't any errors returned from the function calls but I do not see the bound data change after the SQLExecute() function.

Code snippets follow.

CHAR szStatement[256];

CHAR szBuf[256];

SQLINTEGER irval = 0, filenum = 808042, DoNotCall = 0;
SQLVARCHAR vcPhoneNumber[PHONE_LEN];
SQLVARCHAR vcInstanceCode[INSTANCE_LEN] = {0x20};
SQLVARCHAR vcReason[REASON_LEN] = {0x20};
SQLINTEGER rvalLen = 0, fileLen = 0, noCallLen = 10, phoneLen = SQL_NTS, instanceLen = SQL_NTS, reasonLen = SQL_NTS;

lstrcpy( szStatement, "exec ?= some_proc ?, ?, ?, ?, ?" );

sqlr = SQLPrepare( hStmt, szStatement, lstrlen( szStatement ) );
sqlr = SQLBindParameter( hStmt, 1, SQL_PARAM_OUTPUT, SQL_C_LONG, SQL_INTEGER, 10, 0, &irval, 0, &rvalLen );
sqlr = SQLBindParameter( hStmt, 2, SQL_PARAM_INPUT, SQL_C_LONG, SQL_INTEGER, 10, 0, &filenum, 0, &fileLen );
sqlr = SQLBindParameter( hStmt, 3, SQL_PARAM_INPUT, SQL_C_CHAR, SQL_CHAR, 10, 0, vcPhoneNumber, 10, &phoneLen );
sqlr = SQLBindParameter( hStmt, 4, SQL_PARAM_INPUT, SQL_C_CHAR, SQL_VARCHAR, 50, 0, vcInstanceCode, 0, &instanceLen );
sqlr = SQLBindParameter( hStmt, 5, SQL_PARAM_INPUT_OUTPUT, SQL_C_LONG, SQL_INTEGER, 1, 0, &DoNotCall, 0, &noCallLen );
sqlr = SQLBindParameter( hStmt, 6, SQL_PARAM_INPUT_OUTPUT, SQL_C_CHAR, SQL_VARCHAR, 250, 0, vcReason, 0, &reasonLen );
sqlr = SQLExecute( hStmt );
if( sqlr == SQL_SUCCESS || sqlr == SQL_SUCCESS_WITH_INFO )

{
sprintf( szBuf, "The return value is %d", irval );
sprintf( szBuf, "The file number is %d", filenum );
sprintf( szBuf, "The phone number is %s", vcPhoneNumber );
sprintf( szBuf, "The instance code is %s", vcInstanceCode );
sprintf( szBuf, "The do not call value is %d", DoNotCall );
sprintf( szBuf, "The reason is %s", vcReason );
}

The problem is that in each of the function calls, the sqlr == SQL_SUCCESS but after the call to SQLExecute(), the data does not change for the output parameters. I can do something similar in other query tools that show the proper values but I am not getting the chanes in my bound variables. I tried adding a call to SQLParamData() but I was having a "Function sequence error" problem.

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Here're a couple of ideas:

== The behavior of the output parameter may vary based on the actual stored proc, which you are trying to execute. To make sure your parameter description is precise, try using SQLProcedureColumns and examine the types.

== As per MSDN:

If the InputOutputType argument is SQL_PARAM_INPUT_OUTPUT or SQL_PARAM_OUTPUT, ParameterValuePtr points to a buffer in which the driver returns the output value. If the procedure returns one or more result sets, the *ParameterValuePtr buffer is not guaranteed to be set until all result sets/row counts have been processed. If the buffer is not set until processing is complete, the output parameters and return values are unavailable until SQLMoreResults returns SQL_NO_DATA. Calling SQLCloseCursor or SQLFreeStmt with an Option of SQL_CLOSE will cause these values to be discarded.

So what you could do is to fetch the results, call SQLMoreResults appropriately and see if the output parameter will be produced as expected. Also - don't forget the "SET NOCOUNT ON", you might get count tokens as separate resultsets.

At first I was having a problem with syntax errors and some other things that didn't make sense to me. I did some poking around and found that the signature I was given whas different from the signature that was defined in the data. I corrected this and was able to remove the errors. I tried calling SQLFetch() and was receiving an error of "Function sequense error." I can try again. The stored procedure does not return a result set. The return to me is throug a return code, the first parameter, and two in/out parameters, the last two.

I am connecting to someone else's system and they have defined the stored procedure and I don't have any control over how they've defined it.

The SQLExecute is returning SQL_SUCCESS_WITH_INFO and this message. The state is "01000" the native error is "0 The message is: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] The 01000 state is a generic message and that message sure looks generic. :)

I added a call to SQLFetch() after the SQLExecute() and the this is the result. The state is "HY010" the native error is "0 The message is: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Function sequence error

I'm at a loss as to where to go now.

|||

Hi,

Would you be able to script the stored proc and the related tables/objects and post the script here? If it's not confidential or overly complicated, of course.

I have a suspicion about what you mentioned regarding the procedure not returning any rows. BTW - did you try the SQLMoreResults? Maybe you have multiple resultsets?

Thanks,

The stored procedure does not return a result set. I don't think SQLMoreResults() would help.

The body, from a snippet I've been given looks something like this:

/*IsOKToCall Procedure*/
CREATE PROCEDURE IsOKToCall
@.FileNumber int,
@.PhoneNumber char(10),
@.Instance varchar(50),
@.DoNotCall int OUTPUT,
@.DoNotCallReason varchar(255) OUTPUT
AS

SELECT @.Instance = ISNULL(@.Instance, 'master')

-- TODO implement this method to return a non-zero in @.DoNotCall if the account should not be contacted.

SELECT @.DoNotCall = 0
SELECT @.DoNotCallReason = ''
Return @.@.Error

GO

Note that this is not the actual procedure. The person that created it has some PRINT statements in the body to show some debug values and there is logic to return different results based on the value passed in the FileNumber parameter. If I change the first parameter to SQL_PARAMETER_RETURN, I get an error when trying to bind the column. The live procedure also defines the OUTPUT parameters as INPUT_OUTPUT.

|||

An update:

I installed SQL Express so I can see what is going on with both sides of the issue. Some of the error message I thought I had were messages from the "print ......" statements the developers put in thier stored procedures. If I call SQLFetch() after the statement execution, I always have an error of "Function Sequense Error" so I don't think that is why I am not getting values back.

Isn't SQLBindParameter() supposed to bind the parameter in the driver so that when the values are returned, they are also changed in the bound parameters? Is there something else I must do to the the correct values?

|||

Someone explain this one to me. The statement being called is "exec ?= IsOkToCall ?, ?, ?, ?, ?" as far and myself and the driver are concerned, there are six parameters. The first one is bound to an INTEGER to receive the @.@.Error value. the second is the ID to search for and is an input type. The third one is a char type and an input parameter. The fourth is a varchar input type. The fifth is an integer and is input_output type to get a result value for logic. And the sixth is a varchar input_output used to recieve the message string. After getting all of the messages from the driver, the sixth parameter is being updated with the value that was set for the fifth result code variable. Changing the parameter numbers to see if there is an off by one error does not fix it.

What should I be looking for for this issue?

|||

Robert,

Do not change the parameter numbers but you should try to call SQLMoreResults until you hit SQL_NO_DATA_FOUND and then see if the output parameters are updated or not. I believe print statements are treated as results and thus have to be flushed before getting to output parameters.

Thanks

Waseem

|||I found that out the hard way. It is after gathering all of the data that I am seeing the mixed up returns. The first parameter that is the return value from the procedure is never set and I still have the wrong value being updated with the integer value and it does not change even after I remove all of the print statements from the stored procedure.|||

I found this to be the case and was doing so. I also found where I was setting the destination to the address of a pointer to a character array rather than sending the pointer to the character array. I also found this whole thing to be increadably finicky and full of poorly/non documented quirks. I have the IN/OUT parmeters working but the return code fom a call of "exec ?= my_proc ?, ?, ?" still illudes me. I am still not getting the value for the ?= parameter but I don't think It is too important for me to get this value.

Problem with Sql Server 2000 error

I am using VWD with Sql Server 2000. My application was running smoothly till I rebooted both my local box and the Machine where sql Server 2000 resides and now I am getting this error:

An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)

like I said before I am using Sql Server 2000 and not 2005. I don't really understand the problem. The application was running smoothly before rebooting it, so I know there is nothing wrong with the code. Maybe I need to start some service within IIS or something.

If anyone has any idea please let me know.

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi,

I do not have an idea why you catch this error while working with a SQL2K database.

But to enable remote connections, open the SQL Server Surface Area Configuration tool. Then drill down the Services and Connections, open the Database Engine. Then enable remote connections from this configuration tool.

Could be a number of issues.

First, I rarely let SQL Server use named pipes. I hate them, I force SQL Server to TCP/IP always, unless it's a local connection then shared memory.

A firewall blocking the connection could do it.

Putting in the wrong server name could do it.

Configuring SQL Server to deny remote connections could do it (That is what the error message is saying).

There was a problem with SP2 and SQL Server 2000. Check the SP readme.txt to make sure you've configured it correctly for use with XP SP2.

Problem with SQL select with duplicate field names

I am converting a large application so that it can run with SQL server and
Access via ADO into Delphi.
There are many places where it does "select table1.*, table2.* etc"
With Access if there are duplicate field names (e.g. "description") they are
returned fully qualified and you can reference them as "table1.description"
and "table2.description".
I have just discovered to my horror that SQL server will not qualify the
names for you and returns these field names as "description" and
"description1".
Is there any way of altering this behaviour to return the fully qualified
field names as with Access ?
I know I should rewrite the queries to give aliases to the fields but there
maybe 1000's of places in the code and I want to avoid this.
Thanks for any helpHi Andrew,
I am not sure I understood your issue.
Could you place DDL + Sample Data?
What I did not understand is where are the queries writen? In Access Queries
? In Delphi code? In Stored Procedures?
I hope I can help you if I get a better idea of the issue.
Bye,|||you must do it manually (and you always should in SQL)
Access protects the users from themselves. SQL doesnt protect you as much.
You can alias any field name with the "AS" key word:
SELECT MyField AS ThisName
Hope this helps

Problem with SQL on same server as web server

Hi,

I am making a pressroom application, which will serve up limited numbers of news articles on our site. I am using a brand new development server which was just installed. It has both the web server and the SQL server running on the same box. For some reason, none of my ASP scripts can connect to the SQL server on that box, but I can connect to databases on other boxes just fine. Is this a problem in the SQL or the IIS confiruration?

Thanks,
AndrewIt shouldn't matter if its on the same box. Are you trying to use local references or something? Can you post your connection string?

problem with SQL and c#

i have a very weird thing going on in my application program..

my c# application program has an sql connection..

and then re-run it again..

all the records saved in my Database

literally disappears.!!

i need help..

please help out a young kid here...T_T

im very confused now..

*sigh*

Is the insert within a transaction that you are possibly not completing during your debugging session?

You also have to be careful when debugging C# or any .NET program. The line of code that you are on when you stop debugging is not necessarily the last line of code that executes. .NET programs complete the current thread that they are running before exiting. This means that although you think you have not hit a certain line of code that you actually have.

|||

It is possible that something is going wrong with your transaction, and so it is being rolled back when you stop debugging. There is a neat utility called "Sql Profiler" that we package free with SQL server that will enable you to see what is going on to debug this problem.

I hope this helps,

Problem with sp_tables_rowset;2 (Domain Users vs Domain Groups)

Recently we bought a 3rd party application that connects to our database
(using SQL Server OLEDB Provider and Integrated Security). One of the step
it does is to bring the list of table that user has access to.
This app works fine if we use a domain user and grant it access to the
database "individually". But it fails to retrieve list of tables if we use
the "Domain group" security model. i.e. a domain user does not exists in
db - instead the user is member of a domain group and this group is added to
database.
t
Using profiler, I tracked that the app uses an sp (sp_tables_rowset;2) to
retrieve list of tables. In "both" cases, the app was able to connect to
database without any problem. But this sp returns zero rows in case of
domain group. My aim is to minimize access rights management on the database
and do most of it on Active Directory - which is why I want to use domain
groups instead of individual domain users.
By reviewing the code below of the sp, a limit to the rows is done thru'
this clause: u.uid = user_id(). But a call to this method in query analyzer
"select user_id()", returns 0.
Here is the line that app uses to call the sp:
exec [mytestdb]..sp_tables_rowset;2 N'MyDomain\MyUser', NULL
Here is the code for the sp (i found on google):
create procedure sp_tables_rowset;2
(
@.table_schema varchar(255) = null,
@.table_type varchar(255) = null
)
as
select TABLE_CATALOG = db_name(),
TABLE_SCHEMA = user_name(o.uid),
TABLE_NAME = o.name,
TABLE_TYPE = convert(varchar(30),
case o.type
when 'U' then 'TABLE'
when 'V' then 'VIEW'
when 'S' then 'SYSTEM TABLE'
end),
TABLE_GUID = convert(binary(16), null),
DESCRIPTION = convert(varchar(1), null)
from sysusers u, sysobjects o
where o.type in ('U','V','S')
and ( @.table_schema is null
or @.table_schema = user_name(o.uid)
)
and (
@.table_type is null
or @.table_type = case o.type
when 'U' then 'TABLE'
when 'V' then 'VIEW'
when 'S' then 'SYSTEM TABLE'
end
)
and u.uid = user_id() /* constrain sysusers uid for use in subquery */
and (
suser_id() = 1 /* User is the System Administrator */
or o.uid = user_id() /* User created the object */
/* here's the magic... select the highest precedence of permissions in the
order (user,group,public) */
or ( (select max(((sign(uid)*abs(uid-16383))*2)+(protecttype&1))
from sysprotects p
/* join to correlate with all rows in sysobjects */
where p.id = o.id
/* get rows for public,current user,user's group */
and (p.uid = 0 or p.uid = user_id() or p.uid = u.gid)
/* check for SELECT,EXECUTE privilege */
and (action in (193,224)))&1 /* more magic...normalize GRANT */
) = 1 /* final magic...compare Grants */
)
order by 4, 2, 3Hi Salman,
First of all, You could see the codes of sp_tables_rowset;2 by doing
1. Open Query Analyzer as sa
2. use master
3. sp_helptext 'sp_tables_rowset'
you could see the definition of sp_tables_rowset;2, which have little
difference with the codes you given. Would you please tell me where do you
get that code?
Secondly, sp_tables_rowset is used to show table information, while the
first parameter is used to identify TABLE_SCHEMA, and the second one is
used to identify TABLE_TYPE. By running command exec sp_tables_rowset;2 ,
you could see all the tables in current database. Would you please confirm
that your Domain Users and Domain Groups both exist in TABLE_SCHEMA?
Thirdly, I did the following testing based on my understanding,
0. I tried it in Windows XP / 2003 English Version and SQL Server 2000 (SP3)
create a "testdb" database
1. Open Comuter Management, add a Group named "testGP" and an user named
"testUs" in Local Users and Groups separatly
2. Open SQL Server Entriprise Manager
adding 'testUs' and 'testGP' to Security -> Logins, give them
different psw
3. using testdb as default database and click testdb in Database Access
page.
4. confirm that "testUs" and "testGP" could be found at Database -> testdb
-> Users
5. Using "testUs" and "testGP" to login in with Query Analyzer
6. create a table separatly by using "testUs" and "testGP"
7. running exec sp_tables_rowset;2
running exec sp_tables_rowset;2, 'testUs'
running exec sp_tables_rowset;2, 'testGP'
and I will get the answer as expected, no matter what I logined as
8. running select user_id(), I could get different number, in my test, it's
5 and 6.
Bottom line - have a good backup strategy before any modifications.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation. If you have any questions or
concerns, don't hesitate to let me know. We are here to be of assistance!
Sincerely yours,
Michael Cheng

It seems that sp_tables_rowset as it is being called is attempting to list
tables that are "owned" by the user, or (in new terms) where the schema name
is the same as the user_name.
Are there actually supposed to be different versions of a table? Such as:
mytestdb.Salman.FirstTable
mytestdb.Joseph.FirstTable
mytestdb.Richie.FirstTable
That seems unlikely to me, but certainly not impossible. If that is the
case, then you will need to make domain logins be users in the database.
You should not need to grant any rights to the users, their rights will come
through the domain groups, but the actual row in sysusers is necessary for
this all to work.
Are all objects in the database owned by dbo? If so, then the call to
sp_tables_rowset should be:
exec [mytestdb]..sp_tables_rowset;2 N'dbo', NULL
The application is obviously making some assumptions about how you connect
to the database, and what rights the user has in the database, that are
different from what you are expecting. (Yes, we have had some interesting
times with commercial software as well, but not this particular problem.)
If your problems persist, you will need to discuss this issue in detail with
your vendor to determine what assumptions they have made.

I think i found the sp at this locations:
http://www.cis.usouthal.edu/share/N...all/instcat.sql
You are right - ran sp_helptext on my db and got a different one.
Where can I find documentation (usage scenarios) for this & similar sp?
I couldn't find it on msdn. How do 3rd party app vendors utilize these
stored procs if they are not searchable on msdn?

Is this compulsary to have domain users there? If yes - that means every
time I want a user added to have access, I will have to add it to the
database as well as the Active Directory group - which kind of defeats the
purpose of the group. Plz correct me if I m wrong. I might be missing some
basics ... please forward me some links to read about this?
Anyway, I tried it both ways. I have two domain users dom\usr1 and dom\usr2
in a domain group dom\grp1.
In my database -> Users, I can see dom\usr1 and dom\grp1 - but not dom\usr2.
Tried running sp_tables_rowset;2 '<username>' through both users and got no
results (because of the reason below).
I researched a little more on the problem. The 3rd party app is using
sp_oledb_ro_usrname first to find the user name & state (i think) of
database. And then it exec the sp_tables_rowset;2 to get list of tables and
passes the user name of prev sp as the table schema parameter value. In our
case, our target database is under table schema of dbo. So any call with
those user names specified returns no rows.
Waiting for ur reply.
Thanks again.

>|||Hi Salman,
Based on my understanding, when you add a domain group to Login, it is
TREATED as an "individual" user, which is to say, you could not login as
domain group\domain users when you just add domain groups as Login. You
could just login is using domain group name and its password instead of its
users.
If you want to all users to be under the same group login to SQL Server,
you'd better make a login for this group. All users under this group will
use the group name to login. That's why you could not find result by
running sp_tables_rowset;2 'dom\usr2' as you just add dom\grp1 into your
Login.
Moreover, we cannot provide documents for sp_tables_rowset as it is not
recommend. In the meanwhile, I recommend you have a look at
Administering SQL Server - Managing Security
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...-us/adminsql/ad
_security_8pkj.asp
which describes the security tools built into Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and
includes information about : Security Architecture and Managing Security
Accounts
Hope this helps. Please also feel free to post in the group if you would
like further help. We are here to be of assistance!

Problem with Resporting services on sharepoint: Server Error in '/' Application.

Hi,

I have a problem with Resporting services on sharepoint. My local host machine reporting services is ok though.

The problem is when I click on "properties" button on sharepoint reporting services, and when I click on Parameters, Data Sources, Execution, and other bottons on the left hand side, I get the following error:

Server Error in '/' Application.

The resource cannot be found.

Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

Requested Url: /Reports/Pages/Report.aspx

Does anybody know how to fix this?

Thanks,

Yes, this is a common problem with sharepoint installed on the Report Server. Sharepoint claims all HTTP request for itself and used therefore its own HTTP handler, the request won′t get further to Reporting Services, it will be caught by SPS. To fix this problem, you can define excluded path which "excludes" the path for the SPS Http Handler und lets it through to the other HTTP Handler.

YOu can find these settings under the Central administation of Sharepoint. I f I have time this weekend, I will record a screencast for that and publish that on my site under the section Screencasts.

Thank you very much for all that Jens.

I showed it to my supervisor and he said he already tried that (excluded them) but it didn't work for him, so he is probably going to reinstall sharepoint and reporting server again.

I appreciate your help and support anyway.

Report Builder in HTTPS check the entire certificate tree.
If client not have the root certificate installed, Report Builder not
start.
If in IIS you have the certificate SSL that is not the root CERT, in
the web client Report Builder not start.
